Evenly distributed housing
For a minor staying with each of the parents according to the principle of evenly distributed housing, the following documents must also be brought along:
- the mutual agreement of the parents
- the court decision
- the notarial deed.

You must report the change of address to the municipality where the new address is located:
- You can report the change of address online via the digital counter of your (new) municipality.
- You can visit the Civil Affairs Office of your (new) municipality.
To pass on the change of address for the whole family, it is sufficient for one of the adult members of the family to make the declaration.
To pass on the change of address, you need a valid identity document with your national registration number.
If an unattended minor leaves his parents' residence for the first time to establish his main residence elsewhere, he must be accompanied by someone exercising parental authority.
Checking domicile and updating identity documents
After the declaration, a neighbourhood police officer or an authorised official checks whether you actually have your main residence at the declared address. After this check, you will be registered at your new address and invited to the town hall to have your identity card adapted. For this, you will need your electronic identity card with pin code.
From the moment your identity card is adapted, you can inform all other authorities of your change of address.
Vehicle registration certificate
The change of address no longer needs to be applied to the vehicle registration certificate of your vehicle(s). The registration certificate will only state the address that was valid at the time of issue.
